Phlebectomy involves removal of moderate to large veins through micro punctures of the skin. The area is anesthetized. You feel pressure during the procedure but there is no pain. After the removal of the vein, a small single stitch is used to close the puncture and give great cosmetic results. We find this is better than a steri strip or butterfly strip alone. With the vein completely removed the recovery and cosmetic resolution after the procedure is much faster. It is never necessary to go to an operating room or necessary to have large incisions to treat varicosities. Phlebectomy allows a fast, safe, and very cosmetic way to resolve large veins.
